As HurrEvac computer images showed Category 3 Hurricane Michael getting closer to South Florida's coastline, Mayor Ephrain Lopez-Aguayo ordered his fellow Crystal Lake Middle School students to put out a fire in an evacuation center and relocate 1,000 residents to other evac centers in the area. "There are lives at stake, so let's get this done," he demands. Fifty students spent Wednesday morning (10/27/10) at the Broward County Emergency Operations Center. The exercise concluded with a press conference where Mayor Lopez-Aguayo was asked by student reporters if there were any lives lost. "No" he quickly responded.
