FIU Extreme Events Institute and Weather Expositions of America Inc.

The Extreme Events Institute at Florida International University is a transdisciplinary research unit (representing engineering and computer science, business and the social sciences) that focuses on disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management, with the goal of reducing community vulnerabilities and understanding and managing exposure to extreme events.  The Extreme Events Institute comprises the International Hurricane Research Center, which has been recognized as an Exemplary NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, and the Disaster Resilience and Climate in the Americas Program.
